In the months of May and beginning of June JOY has supported eye screening camps in 4 prisons: Bhadra Jail, Mahila Jail, Central Jail and Dhulikhel Jail. With the technical support of Tilganga Eye Hospital and the coordination of Buddhist Education and Social Development Centre Nepal (BESDEC) altogether 692 prisoners got their eyes checked. Out of those, 108 got spectacles prescribed, which JOY will be contributing. Four persons were diagnosed with cataract and will be undergoing surgery, which also JOY will be financing.
